I am Matt Hitches, a web designer / front end developer from Tamworth, Staffordshire. My skill set consists of web design, web development, print design and branding. This website is also home to my web focused blog where I discuss web design, web development, my latest projects and many other web related topics.
As well as working on peronsal and freelance projects, I also work fulltime for a digital marketing agency called Clickthrough Marketing and spent just over 3 years at a web development company called Blossom Digital. My web design portfolio which consists of the work I have done personally, whilst working for Clickthrough and Blossom, as well web design and development work done for other agencies.
I love designing clean and modern looking websites and then developing these designs into fully functional, CMS (Content Management System) driven websites – usually WordPress or Joomla.
I have great experience in developing custom WordPress and Joomla themes, as well as custom development with both systems.
Using jQuery to enhance the look and behaviour of sites is also something that I enjoy a lot, as is creating distinctive and memorable logos.
My skills and technical ability are built up from my knowledge and understanding of the following areas:
- Responsive Deign
- Adobe Creative Suite
I am a firm believer of Progressive Enhancement… Creating a great core experience and then build on this platform to create the best experience possible for visitors to a site – whether they’re using Internet Explorer 7, mobile Safari or an up-to-date version of Chrome – ensuring that no one misses out.
I also believe this approach paired with the use of the latest technologies and techniques will help to make the web a much better place to be!
